Hannah Bellinger works for a movie production company in Los Angeles, and when the director decides Westport, Washington is the perfect place for his new movie, Hannah finds herself back in the small town with nowhere to stay. “Hook, Line, and Sinker” takes place seven months later with Hannah and Fox as the main characters. While we saw a bit of Hannah and Fox’s budding romance, they were not the main focus.

The first book, “It Happened One Summer,” followed main characters Piper and Brendan’s story. The moments between them meant that much more.“Hook, Line, and Sinker” by Tessa Bailey (“It Happened One Summer”) is the second book in “The Bellinger Sisters” duology, and it is in the contemporary romance genre. Her desires didn't make her decisions for her - she took the time to think how an act would affect Fox.

Fox's inner demon's were unique in the romance genre, and Hannah was the perfect match for him. It brings to light that words matter just as much as actions, and how they can shape an individual's choices. I loved the story, and what we learn about Fox, and why he lives the way he does. It wouldn't do Hannah and especially Fox, justice if it was like Brendan's and Piper's. Her story wouldn't make sense if it was like Piper's. Her story reflects that in an intensely hot, fast paced romance.

Piper is impulsive, fun, a little bratty, and has no filter. And while the tones of each book aren't the same, it makes sense. Whereas It Happened One Summer is a faster paced romance, with hot sex and a lot of amazing dirty talk, Hook, Line and Sinker was a slow burn, more romantic (but still hot!), character driven story. But they were different, because these books truly reflected the sisters. I mean, it had the fun banter, and the intense chemistry. But I guess I was expecting something very much like It Happened One Summer, and it wasn't. So of course, I ended up being in the middle of another series, and in the mood to break up the contemporary romance with a fantasy, when it arrived in my mailbox. So I loved It Happened One Summer, and I couldn't wait for this book.
